Valentine’s Day meals

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, and on a Saturday, it’s best to have reservations made and plans figured out as soon as possible. Luckily, the Seattle and Bellevue areas have plenty to offer in the way of dinner spots.

One of the best spots in Seattle for dinner is Benihana. The ticket at the end of the night will be a bit pricey, but it’s so worth it. For fans of amazing food and entertainment, Benihana is the place to go. The only awkward part about having dinner here is that you’re set up at a table with other diners. The tables are good size though, and in the middle of the table is where the chef is set up. Benihana isn’t like most conventional restaurants where the food is ordered and then brought to the table like 20 minutes later. Everybody’s meals are cooked on a massive grill right in front, complete with all sorts of tricks from the chef. Not only do you get the main meal, but salad, fried or white rice, giant prawns, and ice cream is part of the meal. It’s best to come hungry. For first timers, the best meal to order that offers a lot of variety and happy tastebuds is the Benihana Trio. This meal comes with filet mignon, chicken, and shrimp.

For those looking for something a little bit more casual, Lunchbox Laboratory is the perfect choice. With locations in Seattle and Bellevue, it’s somewhere that anybody can get to. The theme for Lunchbox Laboratory is definitely eclectic – old, collectible lunchboxes adorn the interior and old style posters cover the walls. There’s also beakers and other weird science paraphernalia used as decoration as well. If you’re 21 and over, whatever drink you order will be served in a beaker. For those who aren’t of legal drinking age yet, Lunchbox Laboratory has some of the best milkshakes I’ve ever consumed in my life. The food is equally as satisfying. You can either create your own burger or choose one of the burgers already on the menu. I chose the Smoker – super beef, havarti, bacon, smoked pepper mayo, and onions. It was to die for. Paired with their tater tots, it’s probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

If you and your significant other have a favorite restaurant no matter how fancy, that’s always a good choice.

Last year, my boyfriend and I hit up our favorite pho joint rather than taking the time to get all dressed up and go spend a lot of money. One important thing to remember about Valentine’s Day is that it’s not about how much money is spent or what venue is chosen. Money does not define the extent of how much somebody loves you. So, whether you choose a black tie restaurant or a casual diner close to home, have a happy and safe Valentine’s Day.
