Club Caucus

On Monday, Oct. 7, the quarterly Club Caucus took place. Sponsored by Bellevue College’s Associated Student Government, the Club Caucus was an opportunity for clubs to promote the missions and goals of their clubs and to recruit potential members.

The Rotaract Club is an international program that works underneath the community’s rotary club aims to help out the community and the lesser fortunate on the BC campus. The club meets every other Thursday at 1:30 p.m in C211.

The DJ Club was present at the caucus as well to share with the other clubs that they would be more than happy to provide music and services at club events. DJ Club is for helping those who aspire to perform and create music in low-pressure and high-pressure settings. Currently, the DJ Club meets every Wednesday in the library at 2:30 p.m.

The International Student Association’s main goal is to help support international students. They are hosting the Halloween Dance on Saturday, Oct. 26. ISA is also in charge of the annual Lunar New Year events at BC.

The Business Leadership Club provides a place for students to network and build professionalism.

For those interesting in all sciences, the Physics Club focuses not only on physics, but also chemistry, biology and engineering. Some meetings will be spent discussing news of the science world, and other conducting science experiments. Also present was Skip Sampelayo from the Bellevue College Leadership Institute. He talked to club leaders and members on how to recruit and more importantly, retain members for clubs.

Sarah Richard, Gay Straight Alliance member, said the club caucus members “really” seemed like they were aiming for unity between clubs,” to prevent tens of clubs from “running in all different directions this year.”To find out more about clubs at BC, Student Programs can provide more information. Aditionally, on Oct. 21 in the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Club Bash, an opportunity for students to sign up with different clubs and programs, will take place. He talked to club leaders and members on how to recruit and more importantly, retain members for clubs.
